This lot comes from farmers in the Halo Beriti kebele, Gedeb, Yirgacheffe, with farms sitting between 2150–2250m. Cherries are purchased locally, sorted, floated, and naturally processed at Ephtah Coffee's 3.5-hectare site in Lalesa — dried on African raised beds over 12–15 days with no added fermentation. The coffee is mcomposed of indigenous heirloom varieties, harvested October through January, supported by
up to 250 seasonal workers and shaded by traditional Enset trees, which aid soil health
and biodiversity.
Though uncertified, Ephtah Coffee operates with a strong ethical foundation — offering farmers agronomic training, post-harvest support, and fair pricing built on long-term relationships. Central to this is their Ama Commitment initiative, which empowers women through pre-financing, drying infrastructure, and tailored training, fostering economic independence and leadership. Women make up a significant part of Ephtah's own team, and inclusive decision-making is actively promoted throughout the organisation.
