Finca El Mirador is managed and owned by Rafael Cordova Alfonso. On his 3 hectares of land, Rafael cultivates Catimor, Bourbon, and Caturra varietals. The finca is located in Jaén, in the north of the Cajamarca region, the second-most productive region in Peru, and is known for sweet coffees with bright acidity and notes of red and yellow fruits.
Rafael is part of the ‘Volcafe Way’ programme and engages in multiple environmental, social, and economic projects to improve farm practices. By employing predominantly women, Rafael contributes to gender equality by introducing them to the local workforce and supporting them to gain financial independence. Moreover, the
finca plays a vital role in generating income within the local community, as it has been a
stable, economically driven employer for the past years.
The carbon footprint from this coffee's journey has been offset twice.
